Follow three directions

The dots form equilateral triangles. Lines through neighboring dots follow three grid directions. Use those directions to draw the edges of a box.

Keep edges that run in the same direction parallel. Use the same number of grid steps for edges you want to represent as equal.

Choose space for the drawing

A smaller spacing gives you more points for detailed sketches. A larger spacing leaves more room between the dots.

Dot spacing is measured to the nearest neighboring dot. It is not the vertical distance between rows.

Questions about this paper

How is this different from regular dot grid paper?

Regular dot grid paper uses rows and columns that form squares. Isometric dots form equilateral triangles.

Does the PDF include connecting lines?

No. It contains dots only, so you can choose which edges to draw.
